Corporate social responsibility

Sift takes its corporate social responsibilities seriously - although at the same time we have to recognise we’re not a FTSE company with millions to spend.  So on the one hand, we promote a culture of individual charity fund-raising; and also as a company we support two overseas development projects in Malawi and Sri Lanka.

Malawi – Temwa

Temwa's objective is to help build a sustainable future for the people of Malawi through community-based projects.  Temwa is working with the people of Malawi principally in an remote area known as Usisya in a remote inaccessible area of Northern Malawi north of Nkhata Bay, enabling them to become self sufficient and giving them hope for their families' futures.  Sift was introduced to Temwa in 2008; since then the company's involvement has grown from strength to strength.

Sift employees very quickly developed an affinity with Temwa as a cause they could reach out and touch, and were inspired through hearing about the specific projects they were helping to support.  The staff started developing their own fundraising strategies....and the overall impact not only greatly enriched the lives of the people of Usisya but also the lives of the Sift employees.  Being a part of Temwa has brought Sift employees and departments together, contributed towards team building activities whist improving people’s fitness/self esteem and given Sift staff an amazing sense of achievement from supporting such a fantastic cause.Temwa - thank you Sift

A new community tree project has recently been started using £4,500 raised at Sift’s Software Satisfaction Awards in October 2009. The project will involve the establishment of a community tree nursery, the training of local people in the growing and care of tree and the educating of the whole community as to the importance of trees.
