VSO celebrates 50th Anniversary with the launch of a new Social Networking website
VSO, the world’s leading independent, international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty, is launching a new social networking website this March.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this spring, VSO is working with Sift to launch the new, international, social networking site to build stronger relationships with volunteers and supporters and to encourage more involvement with a wider group of stakeholders in its work. Volunteers will be able to share their experiences and skills with their peers and also with potential volunteers to encourage them to apply for placements. By staying involved with the network after their placement, VSO believes that volunteers are more likely to volunteer again in the future. The vibrancy of the network will also provide valuable feedback to VSO supporters, increasing the visibility of VSO’s work and fundraising opportunities.
VSO’s head of digital, Michael Dean, said: “VSO’s high impact approach involves bringing people together to share skills, build capacity, and promote international understanding and action. The social networking aspect of the new international website fits with VSO’s ethos and mandate extremely well, and we hope it will bring the 33,000 people who have volunteered with VSO in the past 50 years together to create even more impact.”
