A significant new hire this month for Sift Media, with veteran IT journalist Gary Flood joining the team as editor of PublicTechnology.  We’re also rebranding the e-Government Awards as the UK Public Sector Digital Awards, and together with PublicTenders (also getting a facelift this summer), these three titles will benefit from Gary’s knowledge and experience.

Gary's been writing about public sector ICT in some form or another for over a quarter of a century and has contributed some of the more spikey content on the site over the past few months as contributing editor; and we’ve been looking for the right dedicated editor for a while.  Gary will be working for his erstwhile nemesis Stuart Lauchlan – Gary and Stuart fought head to head 10 years ago on the news desks of competing titles Computing and Computer Weekly!

"Just to say I am delighted and genuinely excited to be finally a proper part of the SM team and I look forward to building on all the great things that PT.net under Stuart has already started."

Apart from his writing for all the main ICT titles, Gary has a wealth of experiences up his sleeve, from writing speeches for Koreans opening factories in Holland, being the computer expert for the house magazine for retired members of the Post Office, working part-time at public sector union UNISON and interviewing porn stars about ecommerce.  All of which will help take PublicTechnology.net to the next level!
